Russell Norman for The Guide

I met Russell Norman at 10 in the morning on a really cold day. One of the first things he suggested was to get outside and take some photos next to the Peep Show signs in the streets around his restaurant Spuntino. Needless to say I was very happy at the suggestion...

Russell owns and runs many restaurants in London including the Polpo group and Spuntino. You can find out more by visiting them and eating some very tasty food.

Many thanks to The Guide magazine for the fun commission.

"Why should you photograph people?" I'm Talking at Bristol Uni PhotoSoc

Why poster

Why should you photograph people?

I hope to answer this question at a talk I'm giving at the Photographic Society of the University of Bristol. I will be discussing why people make great photography subjects, talking about my approach to portraiture and telling you about some of my photographs.

The event is on thursday the 31st of January at 8pm, is open to the public, totally free and is in the Brunel Room of the Union building on street Queen's.

Come along and bring a friend...

Dave Berry for SW Magazine

Dave Berry cover and feature Jan 2013-1

Dave Berry is a TV and radio presenter who owns a suit company. This makes him a great person to photograph: well dressed and full of outgoing character. We spent a fun couple of hours in The Henry Root bar in West Brompton and on the streets around it making pictures together. We even managed to persuade the people at SW to do a black and white cover - not an easy thing in the magazine world.

Stefanie Bergot for the Mayfair Resident

Stefanie Bergot is an extrovert art dealer and is damn fun to photograph. I met her on the famous Cork Street - a place where many small galleries sell contemporary and classic art. Even though we gave her no warning she was up for all of my ideas, including "stealing" a painting and covering her face with paint.

The fine independent galleries in Cork Street are under threat from a massive development plan, support the petition to save Cork Street and the galleries there by following these links:

A huge thanks to Alpha Gallery for letting us use their awesome space for the shoot (and some of their art) -

Toolstation Campaign

THESTAR_25x4_Toolstation 5

Back in October I photographed a press campaign for Toolstation that featured in many national newspapers and online for quite a few months. In fact you might still spot it now if you look carefully in The Sun or the Mirror. It was great to work closely with the wonderful people at Lionhouse, always a pleasure to work with such fun people. They also made some great radio adds to accompany the print campaign - you can listen to them on their blog: Lionhouse Blog
