Looking for Brits Living in Southern Spain

Do you know a British person living in Southern Spain?

Do you know a British person who lives in Southern Spain?

I am looking for people in Southern Spain for a project photographing British expatriates living abroad. I hope to tell the stories of those people who have left their home country for a new life. I want to tell this story in an honest and personal way, treating those I photograph with respect and hopefully making some wonderful images showing the surroundings that feature in their lives in Spain.

If you can help in any way then please do contact me with more details:

Political Portraits at Europe House

Denis MacShane
Denis MacShane - former Minister for Europe
I had the pleasure of photographing prominent politicians, journalists and academics at an event at Europe House in Westminster discussing Britain's 40 years in the European Union. I had barely a minute with each sitter, so it was quick-fire portraiture. My aim was to draw out their personality as much as I could in the short time I had with each person.

Sir Stephane Wall
Sir Stephen Wall - former Permanent Representative to the European Union

Employer Brand Images for Crew Clothing

I really enjoy my work with Crew Clothing, in the past they have asked me to photograph some wonderful things such as their brand ambassadors and a rowing gig team they sponsored. This time I was asked to photograph life at Crew - to capture what is it like to work at the company. I spent a few days with them photographing design meetings, presentations, and fittings, plus a couple of days in their stores capturing their teams there. I didn't have a specific brief, just the knowledge that my images were going to be used all over the place in their internal communications, so I needed to show what they do in a creative and engaging way.

Here are some of the finished brand guidelines designed by FiveByFive People, the other images of rowing and the sea are also my photographs from previous jobs with Crew:

Massive thanks to Sarah at Crew for the awesome commission and to FiveByFive People for doing such lovely things with my images.

Sugru on the Ceiling

Jane Ní Dhulchaointigh upside down

Some ideas shout to me as a photographer, and when I was asked to photograph Jane Ní Dhulchaointigh the idea that shouted loudest was to stick her to the ceiling. Jane is the founder of Sugru, a company who make a soft rubber substance that sticks to anything. It is good in the heat and fine in the freezer, and is designed to help you repair, customise and make better the things around you. Unfortunately it isn't quite strong enough to actually hold someone on the ceiling, and more to the point the paint that it would be stuck to certainly wouldn't be. However, it probably isn't far off being strong enough but I did not want to risk it.

Here is a behind the scenes video from the day and a few more images from the shoot...

A massive thanks to all at the British Airways magazine Business Life for commissioning such a fun shoot and believing me when I said that this idea would look good. Also thanks to James and his team at Sugru for gathering together scaffolding and all the other things required to dangle someone upside down. Last but definitely not least a huge thanks to Jane for agreeing to be dangled: you rock!

Go get some Sugru here:

A Professor Covered in Ties

Prof in Shop Cover
Professor Mathias Gautel works at Kings College London where he researches muscle biology. The British Heart Foundation help fund his research and so to give their readers an idea of where the funds come from we covered him with ties and bags from one of their shops. Much fun and silliness occurred...

Thanks to Mathias for being such a great subject to work with and Rob the art director at Wardour for organising such a fun shoot.
